Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Finally, news about Final Fantasy Versus XIII is up! (2 Months ago…) This is the thirteen-ish installment of its series, since there have been Final Fantasy XIII which is not related to this game. First up, this game revolves around Noctis Lucis Caelum, who is the last heir of his nation as well as the main protagonist.  Not much has been revealed about the storyline, but it has been stated that it will be a contemporary “Romeo and Juliet”.

I have been waiting for footages of the game since 2008 when they released a 1 minute plus trailer with no fighting scenes. This time, Square-Enix has finally uploaded a trailer which showcases the games almost-realistic graphics and dynamic game play.

Judging from the video, the game play seems to be taking after Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. However, from an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, it seemed that there will be different way to control each character (based on their weapons) in battle. And FINALLY, there will be a day-night cycle in this installment of Final Fantasy.

Familiar to the many Final Fantast fans out there, there will be Summons, Magic, Items and Attack in the battle options. A new option “Ex-arts” is included, but its features are not known till Square-Enix releases more information about it.

So while we continue to wait for its release, just enjoy the trailer and hopefully, I will be able to review this game once the Japanese version is released.
