GCA-Games Convention Asia

Been a long time since my last post. been to busy since my end of semester exams and throughout the semester break. lots have been happening. mainly some events like the games convention asia and also working for the thalessamia conference.

The school actually asked for volunteers for the GCA. most of the people who went was from my course cause the CC approached us saying that this would be a good learning experience for us since it was somewhat related to our gaming course. so we signed up for it. i think most of us went there just to try out the cool new games that exhibitors were showcasing in the exhibition hall. i thought it was really cool. there were many new games that i actually got to try out. but that was not why we were there though.

For those who were placed to work in the conference rooms were lucky as they got to listen to experts talking about different aspects of the gaming market. the business side, the processes as well as the products that were coming out. i do admit to actually sneaking in to listen to some of the talks cause my friend said that it was interesting. i actually learn a lot from it.

From this event i realised that it does not only consists of producing or programming games only. there are more aspects to it then i knew in the beginning. one need to know how the gaming market is, how to publicise and promote the products, what to look for to produce a product that can sell and many more. its challenging and its really exciting. im glad i made the choice to go in to this course as the learning opprtunities are just endless. thanks to mr jonathan chee who approached us for this event. i did not regret going for it one bit (even though i was apprehensive about it in the first place). till the next post. =)
